US MOTION is first and foremost an engineering company. Engineers founded our company and engineering drives our company. Our claim to fame is simple: world-class engineering. Our product design and systems engineering approach is multi-disciplinary. We span the breadth of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, firmware engineering, software engineering, motion control and automation, as well as key specialties such as optical, RF and test & measurement.
Our highly-credentialed design team has engineered products and systems for some of the most highly respected and technically-advanced companies in the world, including HP, Tektronix, Boeing, Raytheon and others. Our largest customers consider the US MOTION engineering team to be a virtual extension of their R&D capabilities and a source of competitive advantage.
Our unique combination of concurrent engineering, machining and manufacturing under one roof enables the quick and efficient delivery of value, from design to prototype to production of electro-mechanical devices and systems, that is simply not found in other companies.
Our engineering capabilities include: Motion Control Systems • Precision Positioning Systems • Mechanical Systems • Electronic Systems • PCB Design • PCB Layout • I/O Interfacing • Electro-Mechanical Packaging • Software Programming • Firmware Programming • Data Acquisition Control • Automated Test & Measurement • Automation Integration • Precision Tooling • Solid Modeling
PROJECT EXAMPLES
Graphite Composite Wing Spar Forming System
Controls design, programming and feedback hardware requiring coordination of eight axes of z-motion and 40 axes of forming actuators.
Ink Jet Drop Detection System
Small droplets that exit a pen are detected and analyzed for size and trajectory using optical techniques.
3D Optical Measurement System
Multiple line lasers seen by CCD cameras, with the image converted into 3D surface data. The data is output in a solid body CAD format for viewing and analysis.
Fluid Dispensing System
3D application of adhesive onto glass substrates for sealing LCD displays.
Fuselage Sections Alignment System
This system aligns the 4 sections of a graphic composite private jet prior to the splicing operation. The system contains 32 axes of motion for controlling the alignment of lasers and fuselage sections.
Precision Non-contact Measurement Sensors
Integration of three linescan cameras, data acquisition electronics, a central processor, bluetooth wireless communication, and battery and charging circuit, — all into the dimensional equivalent of a matchbox, enabling system alignment of functionally critical tolerances.
